Fortress of rashaya

Fortress of rashaya:

 known as "the Castle" or "fortress independence November 22 is the Castle built by the Crusaders in the 11th century in the city of rashaya in the Western Bekaa Valley of Lebanon.
Landmarks

In the eleventh century, the Crusaders built a tower on a hill overlooking the Valley of Rachaya Palestine to protect caravans of traders from Palestine to Syria as a point of control and protection for the processions of pilgrims and travellers TAIM Valley from Damascus to Jerusalem in Palestine.

The Castle stands on the Tower the Crusader rashaya Tower approximately 1400 m above sea level and extends over an area of 8,500 square meters in strategically surrounded by cliffs on three sides, the fourth side facing the Hermon peak. Either the entrance to the castle is from the South and is very similar to the thick walls and her cellars and corridors of multiple Beaufort Crusader and her arches with arcades similar to Beiteddine Palace building and the effects which the corridors with Roman 1500 up to Marie, near the triangle obstacle-bakkifa, and was used for the movement of fighters and supplies in case of siege.

And the buildings and the effects of chehabiyeh dating back to 1370 m while the Prince Abu Bakr Shehab mandate Hasbayya and had come with his wife and daughter to rashaya for fishing, hunting, they built houses inside the Castle. The Meteor also built the castle entrance and railings and arches from the South West.

Either the Eastern wall was built by the French after their entry to the castle using stone surrounding houses after a particularly clear. And still the names of homeowners are on the entrance of the northern part of the Castle as well as the contours of the Church within the precincts of the Castle.
History

I have witnessed important events, most notably the fortress of rashaya famous battle on 22 November 1925 when fighters in the great Syrian revolution led by Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash the walls of the fortress from the French garrison and many fell martyrs of rashaya, in that battle. In the public arena of the Castle standing today bear the names of the dead, one of two French and second names Al-Aqsa area rashaya.
Fort independence

On 11 November 1943, French authorities arrested President Bechara El Khoury and Riad El Solh President and Foreign Minister and public works properly and Lebanon North Takla Abdul Hamid Karami and Minister of supply and trade Adel osseiran, Interior Minister Camille Chamoun and imprisoned in single rooms in the Castle because their movements towards independence. And release them on 22 November 1943 and the Lebanese independence day.

After French troops leave in 1946 at the castle of the gendarmerie forces, and some government departments, and then received by Lebanese army on 1 September 1964 and remained in custody today. The Castle recently was included on the list of tourist attractions in Lebanon and lighting of the Ministry of tourism, catering to tourists from all Lebanon
